EXTEMPORE returns to Valencia for a second edition of the course!

Following the success of our 2026 course, we are delighted to bring the Advanced Fetal Anomaly Scan Course back to Valencia on February 26–27, 2027!

This two-day program brings together the Masters of Fetal Ultrasound – Prof. Rabih Chaoui, Dr. Valentina De Robertis, and Prof. Oliver Kagan – alongside other leading experts in the field. The first day is dedicated to practical pre-courses on the first trimester and on ultrasound red flags for syndromic disorders, followed by a deep dive into the fetal heart, structure by structure, with live scans by the faculty throughout. The second day offers a rich scientific program covering 3D/4D ultrasound techniques, fetal brain pathology, and urinary tract anomalies, with live scan demonstrations and expert-led discussions.

Designed to combine knowledge with hands-on skills, the course provides an exceptional opportunity to refine your expertise and connect with colleagues in an inspiring setting.

In the Scientific Program
Two Pre-courses on the 1st trimester and on ultrasound red flags for syndromic disorders
The fetal heart, one structure at a time — atria, ventricles, pulmonary veins, venae cavae, aorta, pulmonary artery, and the umbilical-portal system, from normal anatomy to disease
3D/4D ultrasound from acquisition to volume navigation — applied to the brain, spine, heart, face, and the first trimester
Clues for detecting syndromes by focusing on selected anatomic organs, across the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters
Fetal brain pathology — from abnormally small or large fetal head to intracranial cysts, hemorrhage, vascular malformations, and posterior cranial fossa anomalies
Urinary tract anomalies — ectopic and dysplastic kidney, hydronephrosis, and bladder/cloacal exstrophy
Live scan demonstrations and expert Q&A throughout both days
Educational Goals:
  • Apply a structured approach to first-trimester ultrasound assessment and referral scanning
  • Recognize ultrasound red flags suggestive of syndromic disorders across all three trimesters
  • Distinguish normal anatomy from disease in the fetal heart, structure by structure
  • Acquire and navigate 3D/4D volumes of the fetal brain, spine, heart, and face
  • Identify and differentiate key fetal brain pathologies and malformations
  • Diagnose common fetal urinary tract anomalies and their clinical implications
  • Translate theory into practice through live scan demonstrations and faculty discussion
