HYBRID COURSE
Bucharest / Romania
EXTEMPORE returns to Bucharest for the 3rd edition of the FETAL EXAMINATION Course, taking place on May 15–16, 2026.

Join us for two days of lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on sessions focused on the latest in fetal ultrasound and prenatal diagnostics.

Key topics include: early and second-trimester anomaly scans, first-trimester neurosonography, fetal heart evaluation, posterior fossa and CNS anomalies, NIPT and invasive procedures, great fetal anatomical discoveries, and third-trimester assessment including growth restriction and advanced scanning approaches.

Expand your expertise, learn practical techniques, and stay at the forefront of maternal-fetal medicine.

Day 1, May 15

The first day features four focused pre-course modules combined with lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on learning.

The pre-courses will cover early anomaly scan, use of doppler in fetal assessment, as well as fetal heart and fetal neurosonography in the second trimester.

You will observe real-time scanning performed by expert faculty, gaining practical insights into imaging techniques and diagnostic approaches.

Day 2, May 16

The second day offers a full scientific program with lectures, live scan sessions, and expert discussions across all trimesters.

Key topics include first-trimester diagnostics (US, NIPT, invasive procedures), major fetal anatomical anomalies, neurosonography, thoracic and abdominal pathology, skeletal dysplasias, and third-trimester assessment including fetal growth restriction.

Participants will deepen their knowledge, refine diagnostic skills, and gain practical insights to enhance clinical practice.

In the Scientific Program
Early Anomaly Scan, First-Trimester Neurosonography, and Fetal Face Assessment
Use of Doppler: Techniques and Clinical Applications (FGR, Fetal Distress, Preeclampsia, Twins)
Fetal Heart Assessment: Aortic Arch, Four-Chamber View, Cardiac Abnormalities
Fetal Neurosonography: CNS Assessment, Posterior Fossa Anomalies, Secondary Brain Lesions
First-Trimester Diagnostics: Ultrasound, NIPT, Invasive Procedures
Second-Trimester Anatomical ASSESSMENT: Urinary Tract, Skeletal Dysplasias, Abdominal Wall, Thoracic Pathology, Neural Tube Defects
Third-Trimester Evaluation: Scanning Approach and Fetal Growth Restriction
Live scan demonstrations and hands-on learning throughout the course
Educational Goals:
  • To understand early and second-trimester fetal anomaly assessment, including neurosonography and cardiac evaluation.
  • To understand the use of Doppler techniques in monitoring fetal growth, fetal distress, and pregnancy complications.
  • To understand first-trimester diagnostic strategies, including ultrasound, NIPT, and invasive procedures.
  • To recognize major anatomical abnormalities across the second and third trimesters, including skeletal, thoracic, abdominal, and neural tube defects.
  • To understand advanced third-trimester scanning approaches, including fetal growth restriction assessment.
  • To recognize key findings during live scan demonstrations and integrate them into clinical decision-making.
  • To understand practical imaging techniques and hands-on approaches to enhance diagnostic confidence.
  • To understand the role and limitations of emerging technologies and innovations in fetal ultrasound in daily practice.
